The birth of the O&A Index
As some of you may know, there are a lot of pages that contain Opie & Anthony show summaries, sound bites, guest lists or complete show audio files. The only problem is that these sites are dispersed over much of the web and there is currently no single source for all this information.
The goal of onaindex is to design an eye-friendly website, which is easy to use, and has an index of every O&A show including a guest list, show summary, and any available audio. Another thing that I would like to add to the site would be a chat room where listeners could comment on the shows as they’re happening. This chat room would be logged and at the end of every show (but before the next replay) the log will be loaded into the database and at that point will become full-text search-able.
The framework used for the site will be rails, the ruby web-application framework. It’s easy to develop in and does a lot of the back-end database work for me, allowing for more efficient and expedient development. I’ll be working on the site in my spare time, so who knows how long it will take. However, I already have some of the base functionality on the site completed and should have a fully-functioning shell site in the near future. After that, the only thing left to do will be to develop the theme for the site and apply it to all the pages (eye-friendly, remember?).
Anyway, the concept is in its infancy but development is progressing, more info as it becomes available.
